About Martin MacDonald

Batavia, New York’s Pastor Martin Macdonald has spent the last 15 years serving as the Senior Pastor at The City Church, which he helped found in 1997. The services he leads take place in four major segments: worship, during which members devote themselves to God through music, reflection, or whatever else suits their hearts; the message, when Pastor Martin Macdonald delivers his straightforward, Scripture-based sermons; and Communion. After services, worshippers are encouraged to spend time getting to know one another and can approach the altar to request prayers.

In addition to preaching in person, Pastor Martin Macdonald maintains a blog on The City Church’s website. In the past, he has written on topics including Scripture-based ways to deal with trauma and the frailty of humanity versus the goodness of God. In the post “Lift People Up,” for instance, he discusses Galatians 6:1-5 and the duty of Christians to provide support to those who have failed in some aspect of their lives while “Light that Surpasses the Dark Night” offered solace in the wake of a tragic shooting in Colorado.

Pastor Martin Macdonald and the staff at The City Church lead a variety of events for members as well. In addition to worship services on Thursdays and Sundays, the church conducts Bible studies on Mondays and Tuesdays, takes young members to youth conferences, performs community service at nursing homes and food pantries, and runs special holiday events. Outside of work, he likes to spend time with his family, go four wheeling, and take trips to the beach.
